Introduction
At the recent Aid Transparency BarCamp in Nepal Hemanta Sapkota demonstrated how using existing social media tools like Facebook’s comment box, and Twitter widgets, aid project reports could be converted into ‘social objects’ that support conversations.
Hemanta’s demo makes use of the Google Dataset Publishing Language to convert world bank project funding data into a visual graph, and then embeds this alongside various social widgets that allow discussion of the project.
The social widgets also allow people to ‘Like’ project information, and to share information about aid projects with their social networks, with the potential to increase aid awareness.
